The National Alliance for Healthy Communities believes the strongest way to promote a healthy community is to start by creating wellness programs, supporting research initiatives, creating better living environments and offer pro-active services.
The National Alliance for Healthy Communities has coordinated and overseen numerous programs and events, all geared toward improving the quality of life in the community.

Bread and Roses is the not-for-profit cultural arm of New York’s Health and Human Service Union, 1199/SEIU. Its 220,000 predominantly Latina and African American women members are employed in all job categories in health care institutions throughout the metropolitan area, New Jersey and Florida.
Santa Cruz Follies

Santa Cruz Follies provides an affinity group in Santa Cruz for people 50 and over interested in learning to participate in the performing arts. Professional performers teach new-comers the rudiments of dance, singing, and live theater production through classes and periodic musical variety shows. Auditions and rehearsals take place during the 5 months leading up to the September “Santa Cruz Follies” show performed at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium. The show is the culmination of a year of training and planning to demonstrate the abilities, talents and dedication of their performance and production skills.
Some of our focuses include:
- Advocate for policies related to healthy communities such as healthcare access and affordability
- Flu vaccines at no or little cost
- Advocate for reform in government healthcare programs to bring them into managed care.
- Educational outreach
- Health Summits for decision makers, doctors, hospitals, health plans, elected officials and community leaders
- Health Screenings at no cost for breast cancer, diabetes, asthma and much more…
